Hello,

I am a fourth-year biochemistry student at the University of Maryland with a 3.7 GPA and 2 years of tutoring experience.

After receiving a 2260 on the SAT and recently taking the MCAT which I studied for 2 years for, I will be entering medical school in the fall of 2013. In my two years as a tutor at the university, I have worked with about 30 students for a cumulative 50 hours. As a tutor, I focus on highlighting overarching concepts such as electron delocalization in organic chemistry, the conditions of constant velocity in physics, and the electronic character of atomic nuclei in general chemistry.

By coupling an emphasis on the most important general principles with a focus on working through practice problems, I have received much positive feedback from the students I tutor.

Algebra 1

I was selected in elementary school to follow an advanced math curriculum. Therefore, I took Algebra 1 in the 7th grade and continued to take math on an accelerated path until taking Calculus 3 my freshman year in college.

Biology

I began my biological studies as a Science and Technology student at Eleanor Roosevelt High School. Since then, biology has been one of my best subjects because it applies directly to my future career in medicine. Since I started college I have taken 5 biology courses including molecular genetics, human anatomy & physiology, microbiology, and cell biology & physiology.

Calculus

Math has always been one of my strongest subjects. I scored a 790 out of 800 on the SAT Math section and went on to take Calculus 3 my first year in college. My strategy for teaching math is to first get a thorough understanding of exactly whats step(s) the student is struggling on and guide the student through practice problems while emphasizing key concepts.

Chemistry

I am a biochemistry major at the University of Maryland and have taken many of the advanced chemistry courses the school has to offer. I have tutored general chemistry for the Chemistry and Biochemistry Department for 2 years.

Physics

I took physics 1 and 2 my junior year of high school and received a 5 (out of 5) on the the Advanced placement test for both. I also took over a year to study physics in preparation for the Medical College Admissions Test.

Additionally, I studied Organic Chemistry for about a year in order to prepare for the Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT). I have been tutoring organic chemistry for two years at the University of Maryland.
