As an experienced elementary education teacher and special education teacher, I am knowledgeable about strategies and methods to teach students who may be struggling in math, writing, and reading. I enjoy my job and strive to help my students in any way possible. Different children learn in different ways, and it is my job to create the best possible learning environment for the success of my students. Different children also learn at different paces and as a teacher, I have to respect that and deliver whatever differentiated instruction is needed for them to be successful. A teacher has many roles in the learning environment and a successful teacher should possess all the training, knowledge, patience, flexibility and creativity that is necessary to allow her students success. I would like to see every struggling student learn, understand, and grow in their quest for a good education.

I am certified in elementary education, grades 1-6. I also have a certificate in Early Childhood Education, Prek-3. I have been trained in LIPS (Lindamood-Bell) teaching of phonemic awareness and reading. I am also experienced with a reading program called Fundations and the Touchmath program for mathematics.

Phonics

I have been trained and am experienced in the Lindamood-Bell method of phonemic awareness. I have also been experienced in teaching phonics and phonemic awareness using the Wilson technique and curriculum.

Special Needs

I have taught special education for the past 17 years. I currently am certified in special education, grades 1-8. I have had extensive training in behavior management and special education assessment. I have facilitated and planned inclusive lessons in the regular classroom with modifications and accommodations. My duties have also included testing/evaluating students for special education services and developing individualized education programs annually.
