As a person who works with various groups of people, I continuously find helping others reach their full potential exciting and rewarding. My highest degree is a Ph.D. in Educational Administration with a specialization in Pre-K through 12th grade; however, I have provided adult instruction at the college level and through workshops for over 8 years as well. I use effective practices, strategies, and resources to inspire and enrich each student's learning. Direct instruction, workbooks, visual aids, computers, math manipulative, hands-on activities, mini-labs, student-centered discussions, one-on-one tutoring and small-group instruction are used to honor various learning styles, students' needs and goals, as well as to ensure they are active learners.

Students participate in one-on-one sessions, small-group instruction, hands-on activities, and mini-labs. Furthermore, we may use computers for enrichment and technology-integration, analyze words and stories, make real-life applications to concepts being presented, and customize the learning environment. Through student-centered and teacher-led discussions and enrichment activities, students receive caring and effective support and guidance from me!

If you need to get started right away and want results, then I am the right person.

"LAST SESSION"

- ROLONDA, Brandywine, MD on 8/20/14
Dr. Tina replied on 8/21/2014

Thank you, Ms. Rolonda, for the positive feedback regarding my knowledge-base, experience, ability to work with your child, and create a wonderful bond with you. It is always appreciated!

As with anything in life, lessons occur in formal and informal ways. Throughout the last lesson, I have learned that - although we can connect on a personal level, and both parties may fully participate in communicating about shared experiences without reservation - I need to always move towards strictly providing business.

During this session, I appreciated the time I devoted to helping your daughter with correcting and completing her "Summer Math Packet." For the 2014-2015 School Year, I was eagerly awaiting to help your daughter to celebrate the next level of educational successes.

Again, during this session, our discussions were full of MUTUAL dialogue relevant to you and me; you did not verbalize, nor demonstrate any form of wanting to move towards other objectives. It would have been beneficial for your daughter to have the complimentary make-up session.

Either way, again, life brings us lessons. Thank you for being an integral part of the powerful lesson that I have learned.

Please take care.

"Miscommunication"

- Teresa, Waldorf, MD on 3/10/12
Dr. Tina replied on 3/14/2012

I really enjoy working with parents and their children. Although one may receive significant professionalism, support, kindness, empathy, results-oriented services, considerations, and much more, some people won't appreciate it. There are two things I have learned; they are: (1) absolute words like "always" are usually based on emotions rather than truth, and (2) the rewards of providing educational services are high internally...human services and loving the people. I am sorry, Ms. B., that clear communication was misunderstood by you. If you look at your messages, you will see and verify that you had 3 opportunities/choices to make-up the session. Thank you for the time we were able to make a positive change in your daughter's education and life.

"Excellent tutor. She is Patient, Knowledgeable, and Funny."

- Semanthe, Upper Marlboro, MD on 2/22/12

Please feel free to continue striving for a collaborative team that keeps the best interest of your daughter's education at the forefront.

Through student-centered and teacher-led discussions and enrichment activities, students receive caring and effective support and guidance from me!
