I have worked as an electrical engineer for many years and am now retired. However, my skills are as sharp as ever, and I am still teaching a graduate course in electrical engineering at Johns Hopkins University. I enjoy teaching very much, and particularly enjoy tutoring young people to improve their skills in mathematics. If you need help, in any branch of high school math, and you're willing to work at it, I can turn you into an A student in short order.
I have a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Drexel University, a master's degree in electrical engineering from CalTech, and a master's degree in computer science from Johns Hopkins University. I teach a graduate course in electrical engineering (Microwave Systems and Components) at Johns Hopkins University.
I am now retired from working as an electrical engineer for 52 years at various companies.
As an electrical engineer for over 50 years, I have used MATLAB in my work for building and evaluating mathematical models of real systems. In addition, I am a part time professor at Johns Hopkins University where I've been teaching a course in Microwave Receiver design for over 20 years. MATLAB is used in the course to some extent.
MATLAB stands for Matrix Laboratory and involves the formulation of a problem in matrix terms. Matlab can handle vast amounts of input data and manipulate the data in accordance with the instructions that the user provides. It has amazing plotting capabilities with both 2-D and 3-D plots. It also provides a vast array of statistical functions including means, variances, medians, and modes of data sets. It can also generate random data from uniformly distributed and normally distributed random variables for use in monte carlo simulations.
There are a vast array of toolboxes available which amount to specialized software for computing in specialized areas such as statistics and signal processing.
Great Tutor — Mr. M. is an excellent math tutor. He worked individually with my three high school aged students, who are all at different levels, and they each felt it was a great session. My daughter reported that Mr. M. explained in 5 minutes a concept that two years of instruction hadn't clarified. My oldest child declared that it is rare to find a math instructor who can actually explain math concepts clear ...
