"Gave Me Confidence!"
Paula from Gaithersburg, MD on 3/28/13
Working through problems wasn't the only thing that Kimberly helped me with. She gave me the confidence I needed to do better in my Chemistry class. She is very helpful and easy to reach by phone. There was a point where I thought I had lost all hope with Chemistry, but Kimberly gave me the confidence and persistence I needed to keep going. With her help, my test grades went up from a 69 to an 89. Knowledge about the subject isn't the only thing she's good at, its also pushing her students to help them reach their full potential-- just what I needed! She's awesome, and I definitely recommend her!

Ms. Kimberly has been tutoring my daughter on her 9th Grade AP biology course since the beginning of this school year. My daughter grades have improved dramatically, going from an 87/88 range to the 97/98 range. Ms. Kimberly has been very helpful and worked patiently with my daughter explaining the concepts. She has also been very flexible and has worked around my daughter's hectic schedule.

Kimberly has been working with my son since the beginning of this school year. My son is an 8th grader taking biology. His class is much different from the regular middle school's courses and some high school's math courses that my son has taken. He had a quite difficult time at the beginning. Kimberly helped him develop a good study habit, including good note taking, daily reviewing, note cards for definitions, online supplements, and more. She is very patient, knowledgeable, and always encourages my son to ask questions. My son enjoys working with her very much. With her help, he has become more confident and also enjoys biology much more.
"A good person, but not the right tutor for me"
Diana from Missouri City, TX on 3/30/14
I enjoyed tutoring with Kimberley because she is patient and thorough in her explanations. I can tell she is passionate about helping me bring my grades up, which makes me feel more confident. I look forward to seeing her again.
I was spending more than $400/wk to see Kimberly, but there were some red flags that made me decide to stop seeing her. She would often make me feel like I was doing the problems incorrectly even when I did them right. Several times she blamed my textbook for being wrong, when I double checked with other students and the professor it was clear that Kimberly was incorrect, and not the textbook.
I feel like Kimberly decided to take advantage of the fact that I have a large discretionary budget to spend on tutoring and would sometimes take longer than necessary to cover some topics. Also, she is fierce when it comes to her cancellation policy and would not negotiate even considering how much time and money I spend with her on a weekly basis. I understand that she ostensibly has other students as well but I feel like when I am spending so much a month on her, she can try to accommodate my schedule just a bit.
Overall, she is not a bad person, and she can be helpful but to me these problems add up to make it not worth my money to stay with her.

It's unfortunate that this student has changed this comment from a very positive one to this negative one, as well as changing numerous "5" star ratings to "1" star ratings, after I declined to work with her any further and charged a cancellation fee following a 3rd, last minute change. My students are committed to their studies, and also appreciate the sacrifices their parents make to ensure their success. Students should be far more committed to their studies than what I experienced here for the first time in a 20 year tutoring career.
I have long term students who earn straight "A's" not just because they work with me, but because they're committed to their studies. Students who don't make excuses for their failures, who feel privileged to have access to higher education as opposed to feeling entitled to it, and that are committed/willing to work hard, will always succeed irrespective of who their tutors are.

Never got started with her. Tried to reschedule starting time of our first appointment 20 hours in advance rather than 24. She slammed us with a cancellation fee. We found someone else.
Kimberly replied on 1/8/2014:
I accommodated multiple schedule changes to add this potential client to my schedule. However, I always accept legitimate explanations such as illness, accidents, ect. as reasons to make last minute cancellations with no charge.
As a full time Cancer Researcher at MD Anderson and part-time graduate student with other long term clients, I always do my best to provide for the needs of my clients.
"Great resource. "

Kimberly has been a great resource for my son. She is very good at Organic Chemistry, patient, reliable and is ready to go that extra mile to help students understanding the topics. I am glad I chose her to teach my son.

Kimberly is always very helpful working through my chemistry book, as well as bringing in new material. She is very friendly and patient. It is helpful that Kimberly gives me worksheets in the areas in which I struggle. The foundation she is building with me is helpful in many of my classes. By emphasizing the basics, Kimberly gives me skills to do questions on exams as well as homework that are very challenging for me. She is also very quick to respond to emails as well as texts. I highly recommend Kimberly for anyone!

She is very patient, supportive and professional -- helped my daughter move from total panic in Chemistry to confidence! Would highly recommend.
