My name is Jacqueline G and I have spent over 20 years working in education. My practice area at WyzAnt centers around the following services: college counseling and advising, standardized test preparation and subject area tutoring for high school, college, graduate students and working professionals. With offices in Bowie, Annapolis, Greenbelt, Bethesda and Washington, D.C., I should be able to conveniently meet your tutoring needs. Go to one of these four sections listed below to find the information to help you meet your desired tutoring services.
I. COLLEGE COUNSELING
My college counseling practice advises families to help their children select and qualify for the most competitive colleges in America. I have helped students complete hundreds of applications to college. Schools where students I worked with have been successfully admitted in the last two years include Albright, Arcadia, Brown, Columbia, Columbia College, Cornell, McGill, the University of Virginia, Bryn Mawr, Mt. Holyoke, University of Delaware, Fordham University, George Washington University, Gilford, Goucher, Hampton, Howard, Marist, Tulane, the University of Maryland at College Park, the University of Maryland at Baltimore County, Florida State University, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, William and Mary, Penn State (flagship campus), School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Virginia Commonwealth University, Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, Franklin and Marshall and Elon are just a few of the colleges where they elected to matriculate. Every student I worked with received a merit award as part of their financial aid package. I have personally visited and met with admissions staff at over 100 colleges around the country. As the Regional Coordinator for the Higher Education Consultants Association, I am devoted to placing students in colleges that will change their lives.
II. STANDARDIZED TEST PREPARATION FOR COLLEGE: ACT, SAT AND AP EXAMS
Standardized test preparation is one of the essential steps to qualifying for most colleges and merit aid. I prepare a personalized plan to help your child ensure strong performance on the ACT, SAT, SAT IIs and Advanced Placement examinations. Many families come to me after the failure of prepackaged programs to significantly improve their child's score. The testing plan I develop for your family will reflect a comprehensive diagnostic of how your child performs on tests so that we focus most of our time on strengthening areas where he or she is weak, versus a scattershot approach of "one size fits all." For AP exams, I have taken authorized classes by the College Board and earned their certification to teach A.P. U.S. History, World History, U.S. Government and Politics, Comparative Government and Politics, English Language and Composition, and English Literature and Language. I am an experienced teacher who taught these subjects as a faculty member in colleges, and at college preparatory high schools such as St. Albans School for Boys, the National Cathedral School for Girls and Georgetown Day.
III. STANDARDIZED TEST PREPARATION FOR GRADUATE SCHOOL APPLICATIONS
I am certified to prepare students for the GRE and the GMAT exams for admission to graduate school. I can also help students complete the application process for these schools, with a particular emphasis on competitive graduate schools for business and public policy. My educational preparation includes an MBA from Harvard, graduate study at the Kennedy School of Government, and faculty positions at the University of Maryland, George Mason and as an academic consultant for the design of a new degree and school at George Washington University.
IV. SUBJECT AREA TUTORING
I tutor in History, English, Business, Public Policy, Non-Profit Management and Social Studies for students at all levels: high school, college, graduate school and working professionals. I work with students one-on-one, in person and online. Students call on me for successful completion of papers, research and doctoral thesis development. Visit my course descriptions for a full listing of all my tutoring subjects.
V. Cancellations and Missed Appointments
As mentioned in my profile, there is a fee assessed for appointments cancelled or missed with less than 24 hours notice. Late cancellations occur a fee of $25. Missed appointments will be billed the amount of 1 hour of tutoring: $75.00.
Thank you for taking the time to read my profile. I look forward to helping you with all your tutoring needs.
