The ACT math section is made up of pre-algebra, elementary algebra, intermediate algebra, coordinate geometry, plane geometry, and trigonometry, and I can teach any or all of those subjects.
A solid algebra foundation is necessary for almost all later math classes. A student who cannot understand algebra 1 concepts will have great difficulty in their future mathematics endeavors. Algebra 1 typically includes subjects such as factoring and the quadratic formula. I am familiar with the MCPS curriculum.

Although calculus is one of the more boring parts of mathematics, it is generally used in today's schools as the top-level test of mathematical ability. It is also highly important for many applications in physics. I have completed BC calculus (with a 5), multivariable calculus, and differential equations, although I only tutor AB calculus (or introductory calculus).
I am a computer science major. While pursuing my degree, I have accrued experience programming in Java, C++, Python, MIPS, and SQL, and using MS Word, Excel, Access, Visio and Project. I have extensive experience creating games, databases, mock business presentations, and other projects, as well as helping others reach their own computer-related goals.
Discrete math is my favorite subject. I can assist with inductive proofs, symbolic logic, the pigeonhole principle, the four color theorem, and other discrete math topics. I easily got an A in my discrete math class at college, and I helped several of my peers who had some difficulty in the class.
Geometry is a very important subject with roots in ancient Greece. It is also of great interest to me. A solid geometry foundation is generally necessary for subjects such as precalculus and calculus. In my experience, students may struggle with geometry because they are unused to thinking visually, or they have difficulty grasping the logical constructs necessary for proof. I can assist students in any aspects of geometry. Additionally, I am familiar with the MCPS curriculum.
I understand OOP and I have spent time programming in Java, as well as assisting peers with their Java programming. I scored a 5 on the AP exam in Java.
I have experience working with both MS Access 2010 and 2013. I can assist with the conceptualization and normalization of a database as well as specifics of using the software, such as importing and exporting data, creating tables, queries, and reports, using a switchboard, and much more!
Prealgebra typically includes subjects such as graphing, properties of numbers, and simple geometry and probability problems. I am familiar with the MCPS Math 6, Math 7, Algebra Prep, and IM programs.
Precalculus almost always includes trigonometry, and typically includes other subjects such as vectors, 3D geometry, and introductory discrete mathematics. Due to its varied nature, students may be very adept at one facet of precalculus while they struggle with another. I can provide assistance with any precalculus topic, whether or not I have listed it above. Additionally, I am familiar with the MCPS curriculum.
Probability, especially conditional probability, is a highly interesting subject. I have good experience with the material and I have an aptitude for solving probability-related word problems. I can tutor in probability on the middle-school and high-school levels, as well as the introductory college level.
