I make learning the American English language and culture interesting and achievable for all ages and all backgrounds.
I am an effective teacher with a range of practical skills for teaching American English to adult, student, and child learners from around the world and from within the United States. Since 1999, I have taught American English in business, academic, and social contexts. You will become aware of cultural nuances as well as acquiring critical reading, listening, speaking, and writing skills. I will share a wealth of resources to enhance your accent and continue your development of American English long after our lessons.
I began teaching American English as a second language in 1999. I received my C.E.L.T.A. (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults) from the University of Cambridge in 2003.
In addition to my University of Cambridge English language training, I have a career background in American history. I have been a registrar, cataloger, and exhibit curator for the Folger Shakespeare Library, the National Trust for Historic Preservation Library, the Daughters of the American Revolution Museum, the University of Maryland Rare Books & Literary Manuscripts, and the Smithsonian Institution.
