I mostly tutor undergraduates, working professionals and graduate students in various undergraduate and graduate business courses - primarily finance, statistics and accounting, but also linear optimization, management science, strategic management (including Glo-Bus) and sometimes microeconomics/econometrics. Additionally, I also do financial planning and budgeting by helping some of my students create long-term budgets, goals and financial plans to improve the strength of their personal finances. Last, I help students prepare for the math portions of most exams from GMAT to ASVAB to GRE, as well as prep help for the CFA Level I exam.

I do financial and mathematical modeling in excel, including the use of data analysis, solver and Crystal Ball. As needed, I proctor exams for students when they have difficulty finding an appropriate location or facility to take exams at. I have a BS in Aerospace Engineering, an MBA in Finance and a Master's in Public Policy.

I have a very flexible schedule. I have availability on most days, including Saturday and Sunday afternoons. I travel and, if you're far, I'll meet you half way, so I don't expect you to come to me.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Accounting

I tutor in fundamental financial accounting, covering its principles and concepts, and including financial statement development and analysis.

Algebra 1

I tutor students in the fundamentals of algebra with a focus on solving word problems, as it is applied in many other courses.

ASVAB

I help students with some critical skills in math and, when they have the time, help them improve the work knowledge and comprehension.

Business

My experience is two-fold. First, I have an MBA in Finance from the Robert H. Smith School of Business, as well as a masters in public policy. This allows me to help students with both the fundamental business courses, in addition to the policy, normative and regulatory impacts on business. Second, I have my own business, so I am proficient at creating business plans, pro forma financial statements, market research and the little headaches that accompany starting and running a business.

Finance

I help students with corporate finance, investments and valuation using Excel and Crystal Ball.

General Computer

While my background is in management consulting, one of my other duties as assigned was in building or enhancing PCs for my office. I trained project managers on new software and, in some cases, older software that they never really used. I'm comfortable teaching people how to use computers from a blank slate and have the requisite patience required to teach people new skills, as well as cater the approach to their learning strengths, whether they are visual or step-by-step learners.

GMAT

I help students with test-taking strategies and detailed preparation for the quantitative portion of the GMAT for students who may be a little rusty in algebra, word problems and formula manipulation.

GRE

I have helped students prepare for the quantitative sections of the SAT, GRE, GMAT, ASVAB and other similar exams. I have tutored mathematics for 20 years, especially the algebra and trigonometry associated with those exams.

Microsoft Excel

I help a lot of finance students with Excel, financial formulas, valuation models, Monte Carlo analysis and portfolio optimization. I also help management science and operations students with probability and optimization models using the Solver add-in. I am also familiar with the common functions of Crystal Ball and SPSS.

Probability

I tutor basic probability at the undergraduate level and for MBA programs, covering everything from frequency to combinatorics.

Statistics

I offer tutoring in business and intermediate statistics, using excel and SPSS.

Extremely Competent and Professional — I enlisted Jason's assistance for a problem I was experiencing with Excel. I am very good at Excel and even teach the application at my job. However I was stuck on connecting real-life case problems to the technology. Jason explained and showed me how to do things in two hours that would have taken two days for me to accomplish on my own. He was patient and extremely knowledgeable. I could tell ...
