I mostly tutor undergraduates, working professionals and graduate students in various undergraduate and graduate business courses - primarily finance, statistics and accounting, but also linear optimization, management science, strategic management (including Glo-Bus) and sometimes microeconomics/econometrics. Additionally, I also tutor some course in MS in Finance and Applied Economics programs, such as econometrics, intermediate financial theory, cost-benefit analysis, financial economics, etc. Last, I help students prepare for the math portions of most exams from GMAT to ASVAB to GRE, as well as prep help for the CFA Level I exam.
I do financial and mathematical modeling in excel for my consulting job, including the use of data analysis, solver and Crystal Ball. As needed, I proctor exams for students when they have difficulty finding an appropriate location or facility to take exams at. I have a BS in Aerospace Engineering, an MBA in Finance and a Master's in Public Policy.
I have a very flexible schedule. I have availability on most days, including Saturday and Sunday afternoons. I travel and, if you're far, I'll meet you half way, so I don't expect you to come to me. My decision to reach out to Jason for assistance in my undergraduate Regression Analysis course at The George Washington University was beyond beneficial. He is extremely knowledgeable of statistics, as well as various other subjects. Initially, I sought help from the free tutoring services at GW; however, the tutors were of little help as they stated the class material was graduate level material. Nevertheless, Jason was able to break down the concepts and explain them in a way that made complete sense. I scheduled three sessions with Jason before the midterm and the final, which allowed me to feel confident leaving the classroom post-final. He truly helped me to obtain a high grade in Regression Analysis. Definitely do not hesitate to meet with Jason!
Jason was great to work with - he helped me study some of the targeted areas in which I was struggling for the GMAT Quantitative section. With his help, I had a better sense of how to tackle probability and rate problems, allowing me to boost my score significantly.
Jason also made it his priority to meet up at a location that was convenient for me in the DC area, which I also really appreciated.
I enlisted Jason's assistance for a problem I was experiencing with Excel. I am very good at Excel and even teach the application at my job. However I was stuck on connecting real-life case problems to the technology.
Jason explained and showed me how to do things in two hours that would have taken two days for me to accomplish on my own. He was patient and extremely knowledgeable. I could tell within minutes of meeting him that he was the "real deal!"
I contacted Jason in dire need of help. I was struggling through an upper level finance course at George Washington U, Financial Management and Markets. He was able to pull me out of a very very deep rut and I went on to ace the final and the course. Jason also tutored me in Regression Analysis/Business and Economic Statistics 2. This was one of the hardest courses that I had ever faced and I was certain that I would completely and utterly fail. However, with Jason's help I was able to score the highest midterm and final scores in the entire class and I ended up with an A+. Jason is incredibly skilled with excel and his knowledge of parametric and non-parametric statistical theory is unmatched. He has real world experience as a financial consultant and can help anyone from undergrad students looking to beef up their finance game to PhD candidates researching market microstructure and asset pricing. But what sets Jason apart from his peers is his wonderful personality and ability to engage students in the topics they are covering. Jason made learning drab econometric models fun, somehow. In the end, Jason was the best tutor I have ever had and my GPA would be significantly lower if it weren't for his help.
Jason was able to assist me greatly with my graduate level Statistics. He was able to provide me with vital information that I could not have grasped by myself. He ensured that I understood the subject at hand that aided in my studies.
I hold a finance degree from undergrad but have forgotten much of the concepts. So, while in pursuit of my master's 3 years after graduation, I felt it necessary to obtain a tutor to get a better grasp of the concepts that I should already know. Jason has been extremely patient (I ask a lot of questions) and very encouraging. My confidence level concerning finance was at an all-time low and I have been feeling as if regaining an understanding of the subject may be impossible but he explains the material very well. It's a difficult subject but I feel that with Jason's help, time, and a lot of hard work, I will be able to make it through this course. Thank you, Jason!
Jason is a great tutor. He would stay longer than scheduled just to make sure everything was understood. Really cared about his students.
I am very thankful that I was able to reach out to Jason for assistance in my finance class. We examined the questions, concepts, and formulas and with his patience Jason explained the basic foundation of finance. Jason has a great deal of patience and his knowledge base of finance was a life saver. I do not believe that I would be able to pass my class without the assistance of Jason, his tutoring brought a sense of confidence in what I was doing.
Jason, was patient and thorough in his explanation of the statistics material. I will definitely use him again and would recommend him to anyone who needs help in this area.
Jason was great! He was able to help me understand statistics in ways that my professor could not. Statistics actually started to make sense to me when I was being tutored by Jason. He is very knowledgeable, patient, and does a great job making stats easy to understand. I got an A in the class. Thank you Jason!!
I learned more from Jason than I actually learned from my professor! He is an excellent tutor who does whatever it takes to make sure that you do well in your courses.
Jason is a wonderful tutor. He clearly has expertise in the subject matter but is so personable that he able to break it down to a novice level. I appreciate his patience in helping me understand extremely complicated material. I give him my highest recommendation!
Jason is great! I don't know how I would have completed my Financial Analysis class without him. He's a great guy, patient, knowledgeable, very flexible with time constraints - and always on time. He's on target with communication, so you never feel like he's ignoring you. Honestly, best tutor I have ever encountered. He knows his stuff! Highly recommended!
Jason is a great tutor. His lessons were thoroughly planned out every time we met. Because of him I was able to pass my final exam in finance with an A. I definitely recommend his services.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I tutor in fundamental financial accounting, covering its principles and concepts, and including financial statement development and analysis.
I help students with some critical skills in math and, when they have the time, help them improve the work knowledge and comprehension.
My experience is two-fold. First, I have an MBA in Finance from the Robert H. Smith School of Business, as well as a masters in public policy. This allows me to help students with both the fundamental business courses, in addition to the policy, normative and regulatory impacts on business. Second, I have my own business, so I am proficient at creating business plans, pro forma financial statements, market research and the little headaches that accompany starting and running a business.
While my background is in management consulting, one of my other duties as assigned was in building or enhancing PCs for my office. I trained project managers on new software and, in some cases, older software that they never really used. I'm comfortable teaching people how to use computers from a blank slate and have the requisite patience required to teach people new skills, as well as cater the approach to their learning strengths, whether they are visual or step-by-step learners.
I help students with test-taking strategies and detailed preparation for the quantitative portion of the GMAT for students who may be a little rusty in algebra, word problems and formula manipulation.
I help a lot of finance students with Excel, financial formulas, valuation models, Monte Carlo analysis and portfolio optimization. I also help management science and operations students with probability and optimization models using the Solver add-in. I am also familiar with the common functions of Crystal Ball and SPSS.
I tutor basic probability at the undergraduate level and for MBA programs, covering everything from frequency to combinatorics.
