Hello prospective students and parents! My name is Matt, and I am a very recent graduate of the Temple University Film and Media Arts program with a Bachelor of Arts in Film and Media Arts, and a General Business Studies Minor. While I am a talented cinematographer, I am also an avid consumer of literature and fiction, and a very experienced writer of media/film critiques, analytical papers and fiction.

In addition, my General Business Studies minor has given me another degree of experience in self promotion, public speaking, interpersonal communication and general marketing principles and skills. Having experience in these specialties has also given me a certain proficiency in the creation of compelling resumes and cover letters.

Depending on which subject you'd like to brush up on, or dive in to with the expectation of achieving a certain extent of mastery in, our methods will vary.

For instance, assuming you would like to become an expert literary analyst, or write that Macbeth paper that has you "shaking in your boots," we will cover the general structure of an argument, from thesis to supporting evidence/paragraphs and the conclusion. From this general foundation, we will examine the thematic content of a given work, and scrutinize how the author utilizes his/her chosen medium (novel, poem, essay, prose etc.), style and narrative aesthetic to enhance this thematic content. We will examine character, and how our perceptions of the particular piece's characters evolve, and how the author manipulates such perceptions. We will examine the true purpose of fiction, as seen through the eyes of many great authors, artists and poets, and we will ultimately leave the student to form his or her own conclusions.

A student may request to work on a specific project, paper or other such long term endeavors exclusively. These include midterm and final papers, presentations, video projects etc.

If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Business

I have a General Business Studies Minor from Temple University, giving me basic competencies in Business Communications, Administration, Human Resource Management, Economics, Accounting, and proficiency in Risk Management and Marketing principles. I have experience operating in crucial roles in high stress environments, and an understanding and familiarity of the precision needed in day to day operations of a business. I also have basic knowledge and understanding of financial markets and capital investing.

Film

I am a recent graduate from Temple University with a Bachelor of Arts in Film and Media Arts, with a General Business Studies minor. I have extensive experience as a directory of photography, assistant camera, grip and equipment coordinator in a variety of production environments. This includes experience on a variety of independent projects, and a internship position as an equipment manager at Sirens Media (the television studio that produces "Real Housewives of New Jersey").

GED

I have a Bachelor and high school degree from a two high quality liberal arts based academic institutions (Temple University and friends School of Baltimore). Because of my education background I have proficiencies in essential math, reading and writing skills necessary to pass an individual test within a GED testing battery. In addition to this, these programs have cultivated my knowledge of effective test taking and study techniques.

Photography

I am a recent graduate from Temple University with a Bachelor of Arts in Film and Media Arts, with a General Business Studies Minor. I have extensive experience as a directory of photography, assistant camera, grip and equipment coordinator in a variety of production environments. This includes experience on a variety of independent projects, and a internship position as an equipment manager at Sirens Media (the television studio that produces "Real Housewives of New Jersey").

Reading

I am an avid reader and writer, and not only have I had to master the basics and intricacies of these subjects as a student, but I have also spent a great deal of my own time cultivating the two further, in order to better myself as an author and a teacher.

I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Film and Media Arts with a General Business Studies Minor from Temple University, and a high school degree from Friends School of Baltimore. Friends has a writing intensive program that emphasizes the frequent expression of question and thought through the precise organization of words. Temple features a variety of required liberal arts courses, almost all of which also require the continual, inexorable expressing of organized thought through written word in the form of analytical and critical essays and papers. Both feature Liberal Arts curricula that have sharpened and honed my abilities as an analytical and critical thinker, reader, and writer. As a consequence, I also have a proficient understanding of the structure of sentences, paragraphs, papers, words and phrases (Grammar).
