I began teaching English as a Second Language at just 15 years old and have loved working with students ever since. As a recent Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Virginia, I understand the importance of effective study skills and can't wait to share my tips and tricks with new students. In addition to teaching ESL, I was an actress in my spare time and after many years in the theatre I know how to make learning active, engaging, and fun!
I have extensive experience tutoring both children and adults in New York City, Baltimore, Charlottesville and the Dominican Republic. From one-on-one to large groups, I have worked in many tutoring environments and can easily adjust my style to fit your needs. This summer I was hired by GEOS Language Institute in New York City to teach an ESL intensive to visiting high school students. Now that I am back in Baltimore I am happily working with a second grade Spanish student.
We encounter language in many different ways throughout the day and therefore I design my lessons to equip students for a variety of activities from participating in school, to watching TV, to sending business e-mails. I love to incorporate multi-media and music in my lessons.
I look forward to hearing from you!
