Hi Parents! I am currently a senior at Towson University with a double-major in Spanish and Latin American Studies. I am passionate about languages and believe they not only expand your worldview but help to gain a better understanding of your native language. Last year, I was an Art Tutor at my siblings' home-school co-op, where I was expected to prepare weekly lessons based on a specific artist, where we exemplified their specific style and techniques. Throughout the year I collected their art work to make them a portfolio which we presented to parents at the end of the year; then each student would present their favorite piece. I also was the editor-in-chief of Howard Community College newspaper where I edited and offered instruction of correct methods of writing and interview styles to produce a successful story.
Repetition is one important technique I use when teaching languages. If you do not use the language you will lose it; therefore, the student will be expected to do a little bit of homework in order to review the lesson throughout the week. After studying abroad and volunteering as a translator I have realized that bringing the language to life and making it a 'real' entity is when everything really clicks; with the permission of the parent I will incorporate cultural aspects to certain lessons (such as recipes, short movies, etc.).
I look forward to working with your students and helping them succeed!
