SAT Students:

My method for tutoring SAT math is very simple. I review all materials to determine what areas the student needs enhanced instructions. Some subjects can be covered very quickly while others require extensive practice and review. In addition, I utilize actual tests in the training. This prepares the student for test day.

The subjects covered include all the basic areas including Number Operations, Averages, Ratios, Percentages, Powers, Slope, Algebra, Logic problems and Geometry. Each topic is reviewed. I patiently work with my students until they understand the material.

As far as my personal background/qualifications, I hold degrees in Business Finance, Data Processing, Information Systems, and an Accounting degree. I am also a CPA. Currently, I work as a math tutor at St. Pauls school. In addition, I am the SAT Math tutor for "Building STEPS", a not for profit organization that works with underserved Baltimore City high school students.

Other Students:
My High School and Middle School students usually have a specific area that requires instruction and practice. I have been working with this age group for years and I feel I have a good understanding of what is required to get students "over the hump" and on their way to becoming successful in their math classes.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ACT Math

I have spent the last several years helping students prepare for both the math ACT and math SAT. In addition to teaching in a classroom setting, I also work one on one with students. First, I give each student a test to see where their strengths and weakness are. Next, I prepare a customized plan to improve their skills on the weak areas.

Elementary Math

Currently, I am a math tutor an elementary school. Previously I have worked in the Baltimore City school system with 4th and 5th graders on their math skills. Sometimes I teach children who are falling behind while other times I work with advanced students.

I have even been allowed to tutor the more advanced students on 6th grade material.

Geometry

I work in the Baltimore City school system with 11th and 12th graders on their math skills. I work with children who are falling behind and need to improve their SAT grades.

I cover all areas of mathematics from simple math operations to more complex mixed number properties. I also tutor the students in geometry, basic algebra and all other SAT materials.

Prealgebra

We cover all areas of mathematics from simple addition to more complex mixed number properties.

SAT Math

Recently, I have been working at a school as a math tutor. In addition, I am the math SAT tutor for BuildingSTEPS. This non-profit organization works with underserved Baltimore City high school students in an effort to help them not only get into college, but also graduate from college.
