As the daughter of a public school system educator, I grew up knowing the value of education. As a youth, I mentored and tutored younger students and carried that philosophy into my adult life.

During my four years at Denison University, I was a tutor for America Reads, a national organization devoted to promoting reading in some of America's most underserved school districts.

Upon graduation, I volunteered for six years with Washington, DC's Horton's Kids, a non-profit mentoring and tutoring program for disadvantaged youth in one of Washington's worst housing districts. There, I tutored a young boy each Tuesday evening from the age of four through age nine. From developing basic reading skills to solving math problems to learning organization and study skills, I worked with him to enhance what he was already learning in the classroom.

I am a good listener, and will listen to my students for where they have the most trouble. I am patient and encourage students to become excited about learning.

I look forward to an opportunity to work with you!
