Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

In the beginning, Algebra can seem like a foreign language. Do you find yourself asking, "What are real numbers, rational numbers, integers?" Or maybe, "What does it mean when a + 7 = 13?" Perhaps you're saying, "My graph looks nothing like the graph in the book!"

I can explain this and more, in clear terms. Together we can overcome your confusion and you can gain a solid foundation for Algebra and beyond.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have worked as a substitute teacher K-8 in the county for years; I have taught piano students for 10 years in my privately owned studio; I am a Girl Scout leader (2 troops) and have implemented after-school enrichment activities for K-5 students. I have extensive experience working with children of varying ages in a wide range of subjects.

General Music

I have played instruments including the piano, flute, trumpet, french horn, and oboe, and I have taught private piano lessons for years.

Whether you need to learn the basics, including how to read notes, or more advanced skills such as the myriad symbols and Italian vocabulary necessary to truly read music well, I can help!

Sewing

I have many years of sewing experience, from clothing to stuffed toys to pillows and blankets. I am compensated to sew curtains, dresses, headbands, and other items for others, and I sew various items for personal use. I enjoying sewing both for its utility and its creativity! Whether it is learning to choose and follow a pattern or learning to thread your machine, I can help!

Study Skills

Good studying skills and habits are essential to success! I can help you with time management, note taking, critical reading and research, memorizing, and test preparation.

I have a great deal of experience on both sides of this problem, as both a student and a teacher. I look forward to helping you become a better student by improving your study skills!
