I enjoy learning new things everyday and getting to witness my students get excited about art! Art has always been a part of me since I was a little girl and it has never left! Art allows me to express my inner most thoughts and dreams. I've learned techniques through my studies in art therapy that has allowed me to use art as therapy and the process of art making is very therapeutic.
I have been an art teacher for over six years and have been conducting art therapy sessions with my students that have special needs and behavioral and emotional issues for almost 5 years. I have a reputation for making art explode! (In the safest and most creative way). A project I conducted at one of the schools I worked with had taken art outside the walls of the school and we found a way to make art everywhere! We made a string labyrinth in the jungle gym, 3-D chalk map of the United States, paint-balloon toss, and so many other artsy projects that I don't have time to mention....but do have pictures to prove it.
Yet on the serious side of things, Art History is a passion of mine, because there is so much to discover about art's past, present, and future! I love working with students, I have had experience with all ages, all grades, and all kinds of kids. If you were to ask my students what kind of art teacher I was, they would probably tell you I wasn't just an art teacher, I was a music teacher, a therapist, a reading teacher, and a dance teacher, a recording studio hand, and a singer! They would probably break into all the songs I created about the arts that helped them remember their colors, art concepts, and just songs we made up for fun. My teaching philosophy is to inspire, instruct, and increase your child's learning abilities.
