I strongly believe in education and succeeding in academics. My strong interpersonal skills, consisting of motivating others, mentorship and being accountable, assist me in various projects and teams while working on developing initiatives. While at Goucher, I was a third year Residential Assistant where I developed my leadership skills by working with faculty and staff to create helpful programs and provide resources to residents. I also worked with different age groups in education as a director, mentor and tutor for inner city Baltimore high school students in the Upward Bound program at Morgan State University. I also taught Biology, Chemistry and Physics and served as a Residential Assistant for high school students in the Upward Bound Program at George Washington University. I especially enjoyed helping the students prepare resumes and personal statements for upcoming college applications. I created workshops focusing on career goals and some social topics to engage the students' interest. Aside from my academics at Goucher, I was a sprinter and hurdler on the Goucher Women’s track and field team for two and a half years. I developed a group for students interested in various workout routines and fitness. While interacting with the younger audiences, one thing I always encourage is for the student to perform their best and eliminate any doubts they have in their skills. I love to help students, from elementary school to high school, to have and maintain confidence in their capabilities. These capabilities include both academic and non-academic capabilities. My creative spirit, patience and inspirational guidance helps me to work with a diversity of students and parents. I am an aggressive self-starter, cheerful and enjoy taking on new tasks.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Study Skills

I have previously tutored high school students in two Upward Bound Programs; one for Inner City Baltimore High school students at the Morgan State University and another for D.C. high school students at the George Washington University. As some students were taking summer classes, I helped them with their assigned homework. I also structured workshops to teach the students about effective time management skills, study skills, resume building and completing college applications.
