Math has been a big part of my life since I was a child. My father was a math teacher, and growing up in a "math house" has helped me develop my math skills tremendously. Throughout the years, I have corrected thousands of papers, attended numerous classes and helped students with math they just couldn't understand. I have always found math very logical and found it fun to help others learn the subject. As a student in college, I decided math needed to be a part of my life. I was a business major (marketing) but I knew business would never "do it" for me. While taking business classes, I decided to enroll in classes designed for math teachers and embrace teaching the subject. These classes helped me prepare lesson plans, learn to speak in front of a group of people, and really build my confidence in working with math.
I knew that I was getting myself into something special with education. For the past two years I have tutored my next door neighbor who is now a junior in high school with his math. I have seen him become more confident and less frustrated with his schoolwork. We have worked on fairly simple subjects from pre-algebra to more complicated ones such as advanced geometry. On top of tutoring math, I also teach guitar as well. I have taught students in middle school the fine arts of plucking the strings and worked with first graders who could barely push the strings down. I am a very passionate person who takes what they do very seriously. Math is one of my many passions and I want to help as many people understand the subject. I have passed the middle school mathematics MTEL test and am currently seeking employment as a middle school math teacher.
