I have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Exercise Science and Health Promotion and a Master's Degree in Health Education. Currently, I teach middle school where I utilize a variety of cross curriculum educational methods to meet the needs of all learning styles. My curriculum is based on teaching modalities that foster independent critical thinking and analytical skills. My primary goals as a teacher are to teach students how to learn and how to think. I have taught and/or tutored kindergarten through graduate level courses in the following subjects: reading, writing, composition, grammar, vocabulary, study skills, elementary math, motor skill coordination, character development, anatomy, methods of teaching, and human disease. I have worked with a variety of cultures and educational needs, such as students diagnosed with ADD/ADHD, Aspergers, Anxiety, OCD, Dyslexia, Oppositional Defiance Disorder, Reactive Attachment Disorder, and Autism. I have taught students who struggle with low motivation, time management skills, study skills, lack of focus, lack of interest, anger management and stress management. I have also worked with students who struggle with perfectionism, low self esteem, and low self confidence. However, I also recognize there are plenty of students who simply need someone to explain the academic subject matter in a different way than their current teacher is explaining the material. I am a good teacher who is flexible, patient, caring, and experienced.
Background Check: As a public school teacher, I have submitted and passed the CORI check. Due to that, I have not completed the WyzAnt Background Check.
