I am a former Middle School and High School math teacher from private schools and have taught reading in the Massachusetts public school system. I am an experienced math and science teacher from a Massachusetts GED program. I am currently taking time off from classroom teaching to help care for elderly parents. I am now working part time as a tutor and now have several openings for tutoring available. I will tutor in your home or if preferred at an agreed upon public building such as a library or your child's school with permission.
I have 5 children ranging in age from 16-27 years old. I have been there as a parent, trying to help my child feel positive about themselves and their abilities. All children are different so besides working with students and various learning styles, I have personally helped my own children with homework, time organization, and what learning style suits their abilities.
I was once asked by a student if I had a life dream to be a game show host as the classes were so fun and varied. My motto is "there is more than one way to skin a cat- there is more than one approach to learning math". Anyone can understand and be successful in mathematics, it is the negative attitude and rigid approach that scares most students. Math can be fun, you can learn through games, and sometimes... there is more than one answer to a problem!
