I am a professional writer with 26 year experience in the field and I am also a seasoned tutor. I have been tutoring students in writing papers and preparing for written tests in many subjects — including English, history, social studies, government, psychology, and sociology — since I graduated from Clark University with Honors in English in 1985 and have continued working with middle school, high school, undergraduate and graduate level students since that time. I also have worked with students on SAT, SSAT and TOEFL test preparation in the areas of reading comprehension, writing and speaking (TOEFL).
I have worked successfully with students from under-served populations, whose English and grammar needed much work, as well as international students. One of my greatest success stories is my help with an internationally born student who was having trouble with her English literature classes as an undergraduate. Under my guidance she became a top student who went on to get her master's degree and Ph.D. in English and in turn taught students how to write papers. Today she is a senior researcher for the American Institutes for Research.
I am comfortable working with students from middle school sixth or seventh grade to graduate level students. I believe I have a friendly demeanor but I get the job done.
I am a former high school and collegiate athlete. I am willing to work hard and go the extra yard to help others achieve their goals. I am inspired by the work students put forth to excel in their studies and enjoy the opportunity to have a role in that experience.
