I would like to give you a brief description about my background. I love to work with people, and help them achieve their goals, both personal and career oriented. Tuturing is a great communication vehicle for both the tutor and the student for many reasons. It allows one on one time, which is critical to the learning experience. It also welcomes a mentoring relationship; it is important and benefecial for everyone to have a mentor. I personally have three of my own.
I would like to elaborate on my professional experience. My first tutoring job was at the age of 15, where at the same time I was attending high school and college at night. I am currently a Manager at Blue Cross Blue Shield of MA. I am originally from Sivily and came speak Italian fluently. I have studied both Spanish and French for 10 years, and studied Portuguese for 2. I have learned several languages to enable me to communicate with others.
I graduated from Boston University, with a double Business concentration: Management Information Systems and Organizational Behavior.
In terms of my teaching style, I like to have the student know the meaning of what their learning and how it relates to the "real" world, so it is easier for them to remember. I challenge the student to figure out the answers for themselves before I jump in. I dont this for all subjects. My teaching style is different depending on the subject. I listen to the student and figure out what their best leanring style is. I personally think "hands on" and "do it yourself" is the best and only way. I also make it clear what my expecations are of the student and ask what thier expecatations are of me.
