Photography has always been a passion of mine. I've been a National Geographic subscriber for as long as I remember (primarily for the photographs, the articles are secondary). I receive Popular Photography every month to geek out about the newest lenses and mirror less systems. My home is filled with canvases and prints of images I've shot, and antique twin-lens cameras hide on shelves. My bookshelves hold coffee table books detailing the work of great photographers, from Hunter S. Thompson to Arno Minkkinen.
I eat, sleep, and breathe photography, and I am currently employed at two photography studios.
I graduated in May of 2012 from University of Massachusetts Lowell, with a B.F.A. and a concentration in Photography. I began working with Adobe software with Photoshop 7 in high school. I have logged well over 3,000 hours in a variety of Creative Suite versions and individual programs, including CS5. Most of my work was done using Photoshop and Lightroom, although I have used Illustrator, Dreamweaver, InDesign, Bridge, Fireworks, and others quite extensively. This calendar year alone, I have logged over 300 hours between Photoshop(7, CS5) and Lightroom(4) combined.
While in college, most of my photographic knowledge was gained under a renowned fine art photographer. I currently manage a member-based studio in Clinton, MA called Boston Studio Photography West, in addition to having studio space here as well. Since beginning my position here, I have developed a vast network of photographers, Hair and Make-up Artists (HMUA) and models that participate in monthly events held at the studio. I also work as a photographer at Portrait Simple, a professional portrait studio in Natick, MA. I have photographed over 100 sessions, primarily of children aged 0-6, but not limited to that demographic. My latest published testimonial was as follows: "I am so pleased with our photos of our little girl. This was our first time there and Cody was wonderful with my daughter. The photos he took were superb!"
I have extensive experience shooting various DSLRs, including Nikon, Canon, and Olympus. I have used medium and large format film cameras (4x5 and 8x10), as well as 110 and 120mm Yashica. I am well-versed with Paul C. Buff's line, from Alien Bees to Einsteins, and Cybersync triggers. I also used Profoto and Speeditron light sets with and without a power pack. I have used umbrellas, barn doors, strip lights, octoboxes, beauty dishes, reflectors, soft boxes, ring flashes, and a plethora of other light sculpting tools.
I have previous experience tutoring high-school teachers, and as a teacher's assistant in Ceramics at Umass Lowell. I spent two years working with teens in Lowell, MA as well, including an integrated art curriculum.
I look forward to hearing from you!
