I am particularly specialized in the sciences, Biology, AP Biology, Chemistry,Organic Chemistry Physics, Environmental Science and exam preparation like TEAS,NCLEX, MCAT, LSAT, GRE, SAT, GMAT , PCAT and reading. I teach and tutor at a Community College and have been an adjunct at a number of 4 year colleges.

I am a College admissions and School Counselor with experience at the middle school, high school, 2 and 4 year college level teaching and in working as a career counselor and administrator. I have a BS in Biology/Natural Science, a M.ED in Computer Education, a MS in Management, and a MA in Counseling and School Psychology. In addition I am a CPhT (Certified Pharmacy Technician). I have taught middle school and high school science, developing classes in Environmental science and alternative energy sources. I have taught Fundamental of Math at the 2 year college level and pre-calculus and statistics. I have good teaching skills in Psychology, Biology and Life Sciences as well as the Physical Sciences. I serve as a per diem mental health counselor and am a member of CASA.

I have a specialty of working with students with learning disabilities, like ADHD/ADD, autism, Aspergers - and do therapeutic riding with students who will benefit. I have worked with students with mental health and dual diagnosis issues that are preventing school success.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ADD/ADHD

I have been working with ADD and ADHD students for some 7 years, I've been trained in counseling psychology and tutoring students with these issues and have had great success as a teacher and counselor as well as tutor.

Autism

I took a number of classes in autism at UMASS Boston as part of my clinical training in getting a MA in Counseling Psychology and Education.

I have tutored a large number of students with various degrees of Autism and Asperger's disease as well as ADHD and learning and reading disabilities.

I do a lot of work with young students with various learning and reading disabilities and have worked with them in a community clinic.

Biology

I have many years experience teaching biology, genetics, environment, zoology, cell biology and microbiology at AP, honors high school, junior college and university level.

Botany

I have done a good amount of work in various areas of botany and have both undergraduate and graduate work in various aspects of botany, I have taught HS, Junior college and 4 year botany labs, and have run a commercial greenhouse

Business

I have a MS in Applied Management, and have worked in various marketing, sales and channels development roles for over ten years at IBM.

I have also taught Business classes at Anna Maria College, Nichols College, Beckers College, and Assumption College. I do contract marketing research,marketing writing, web search optimization, and various other channel development work for various firms.

Career Development

I have done career development at Nichols College, have been an adjunct at Becker College, Assumption College, and Anna Maria College. I have been trained to be a School Guidance Counselor and a skilled in testing. I have a MA in Counseling Psychology and have worked in regional Mental health clinics. I have special skills in ADHD and ADD and have taught parental support groups.

Chemistry

I teach and tutor chemistry at Quinsigamond CC, and have taught at several local area colleges as well as with a number of HS Chemistry students.

College Counseling

I am a School Guidance counselor and I have been a College Adviser as well. I am very familiar with the college admissions process, financial aid, sports scholarships and career interests.

In my counseling sessions I help students formulate their interests and select a college major.

I have assisted students and parents put admission packages together.

Dentistry

I have been tutoring the DAT exam for some time, it uses my biology, chemistry, physical science and math skills. I already tutor and teach these subjects now with the objective of getting into dental school. I have tutored people who got into Harvard, Tufts and BU's dental schools.

The DAT has four sections: natural science, perceptual ability, reading comprehension and quantitative reasoning. Each section assesses a variety of sub skills. For instance, natural science has biology and general and organic chemistry questions. Perceptual ability measures aperture, cube counting and 3-D form development. Reading comprehension tests the ability to organize and analyze information in three reading passages. Quantitative reasoning features algebra, geometry, trigonometry and word problems.

Drawing

I am qualified in basic drawing techniques, architectural drawing, cartooning, and teaching children and adults the basics of how you start to create images in a variety of media: pencil, charcoal, crayon, fine drawing pens, and oil based pencils. I taught basic architectural drawing at a local Community college and taught drawing at a middle school while I was doing a teaching practicum. In college I had a minor in various types of drawing and since then have taken various graphics classes. I frequently use a drawing board attached to my computer to incorporate my art into my work.

Dyslexia

Dyslexia is a common learning disability, associated with the inversion of letters like d and b. Frequently these individual have difficulty distinguishing between left and right. I have worked with students on these issues as it relates to reading and test taking after taking learning disability classes and in school guidance and school psychology testing programs. I have written dyslexia plans, and 503 plans for students which where agreed upon with teachers parents and students.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have considerable experience tutoring children in the k-6 range. I tutor reading, math, language arts,and science at a local middle school, and have worked with many students in that age category. I also have educational assessment skills which are very useful in this particular area.

Elementary Science

I have taught both Elementary science and physical science. I have been teaching these subjects for a good number of years for a variety of grade levels. I now have several people interested in me teaching physical science- I tutor my niece in eighth grade physical science right now.

ESL/ESOL

I have been teaching ESL for a while now. I believe in making it an active and interactive experience. I like to meet in coffee shops and places where people can work on their skills with my help. I use a variety of materials based upon your level of achievement. I have also worked with business people who want to develop business language and social skills who work for global companies like IBM.

Genetics

I have taken several Genetics classes in my Biology program, and did my senior project on Genetic counseling. Since then I have taught genetics at a few area college and tutored a number of student in HS, college and genetic counseling genetics.

Marketing

I got my Ph.D in marketing and worked in high technology and pharmaceutical marketing for 12 years. I enjoy market research, online surveys, retail, online marketing and creating brochures and websites.

MCAT

I have tutored a number of student at Holy Cross College in preparation for the MCATs- and I have all the review materials.

MCSA

I have been tutoring the MCAS for some time, I began as an MCAS tutor for the town of Douglas, MA and expanded my MCAS and STEM knowledge to tutor MCAS with Northbridge and Grafton high schools in MA. I also worked with Senator Richard Moore, Framingham State University, and the Worcester Foundation for Experimental Biology in defining the STEM requirement in science and engineering for the state.

Microbiology

I took a number of microbiology classes in college and have been a microbiology adjunct teacher and tutor for 15 years.

NCLEX

I teach and tutor in the nursing program at QCC junior college and have tutored 35 students so they can pass the nursing exam in pharmacology, surgery, disease states and have gotten them all to pass the exam.

Nutrition

I took several nutrition clases in college, have been a nutrition adjunct instructor and tutored dietician students for 10 years.

Organic Chemistry

I have taught organic chemistry on the JR/SR college level a Qyuinisgamond Community College in Worcester and at the MAss College of Pharmacy in Worcester and Boston, as well as the University of RI.

Pharmacology

I have taught Pharmacology in junior colleges as part of nursing programs. I am also a practicing certified and licensed ChPT, Certified Pharmacy technician. I teach drug compounding as well.

Physics

I teach and tutor high school and college physics. I have taught physics at introductory level, honors level, AP level taught General Physics, Physics for Engineering and Scientists, and taught Bio Chemistry of Physics.

Prealgebra

I have worked with many students from fifth grade to 8th grade on pre-algebra and algebra. It's important to get a good start as the other maths assume a strong basis in pre-algebra.

Reading

I have been tutoring 8-13 year olds in reading and math for 3 years now with success. We work on reading, phonetics, sounding words out, and sight word vocabulary. I use spelling, reading and writing exercise books and customize the exercises to the child's specific needs.

SAT Math

I have had SAT math preparations classes in the past and tutored for some recognizable test prep companies.

Series 7

I worked in a brokerage business in NYC for several years and passed the Series 7 and have tutored students in that since then as well as having been an adjunct professor teaching the Series 7 class.

Special Needs

I have an MA in Clinical Counseling Psychology, have worked with ADD-ADHD clients, autism clients, counseled these people at Family Continuity, and tutored students with severe learning disabilities as well as get paid to be an educational advocate.

TEAS

I work at a local community college where the nursing students must take TEAS, so I teach a workshop and tutor the TEAS. I have tutored TEAS trough Bay Path college as well.

Zoology

I took a number of Zoology classes and am very familiar with both vertebrate and inveribrate zoology, in addition I completed a two semester class in Marine Zoology and a practicum at the Woods Hole Oceanographic center. I have tutored AP Zoology and taught Zoology in college.
