Hello. I am a Virginia Tech graduate with a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering and a B.A. in English Literature. I specialize in tutoring physics and math but am also available for English. I have tutored students from elementary school math to college level calculus and multivariable calculus. I am a native of the DC metro area and attended the Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology, one of the premier public magnet schools in the country.
Physics and math are my two strongest suits. My engineering studies have given me a strong understanding of higher level math, such as calculus and differential equations. I have used this background to teach all levels of math and physics, in general programs, honors, IB, and AP.
I have found that the most important thing in tutoring physics and math is to explain the relationship between math and the real world. Without understanding the real world significance, math and physics can seem abstract and intimidating. My goal in tutoring is always to explain the context of the math, so that a student is better prepared to apply it to unfamiliar situations in the future.
I also have a deep fondness for literature, taking B.A. in literature while at VT. I have worked as the Editor in Chief and Copy Editor of two different Virginia Tech student publications. I have helped many students, as well as fellow classmates, to edit and revise papers. I have strong writing skills and am also available to tutor English and writing.
I am looking forward to working with you in the future. Thanks for considering me!
