I am a certified teacher who specializes in teaching reading to students with language impairments such as dyslexia and expressive and receptive disabilities. I am certified in the Wilson Reading Program. I have experience with Orton Gillingham, LiPS and VV. For younger students I also use Lively Letters. I start with the basic building blocks, letter sounds. Once letter sounds are solid, I teach students how to blend simply cvc words and then keep expanding always teaching the rules of the English language. I feel decoding and encoding go hand and hand. When students begin to read with success they also begin to write with success.
