I graduated from Bay Path College in 2011 with a degree in liberal arts and a minor in elementary education. Throughout my years at Bay Path, I completed an internship in a 1st grade class and served countless hours in many classrooms of all different grades levels as well as special education classroom.
Following college, I have worked in a preschool and as a paraprofessional in a first grade classroom, and currently I am working in a 3rd grade classroom.
I am a patient tutor with experience with students pre-k through 6th grade. My experience working with students all throughout the elementary grades makes me well-qualified to help a student in any elementary subject, whether it be grammar, spelling, science, social studies, math, English, etc. I know that every student/child is different and must learn at their own pace and have differentiated instruction; with that in mind, my goal is to help each student in an area they struggle with, using a method of teaching that is right for them so they are able to grasp all concepts with ease.

Elementary K-6th involves working with many different subject areas. I have had experience working in many different grade levels and am currently working as a paraprofessional in a 3rd grade classroom. I am very familiar with all the subject areas and also know that each child needs differentiated instruction. It would be my goal to work with the student in a way that works best for them.
Phonics focuses on phonemes(sounds of oral language) and graphemes(letters that represent sound in print). With phonics instruction students will be able to read with a higher fluency rate and also have tactics to decode words they may not know and helps with reading and spelling. I have worked with many students with phonics instruction in several grade levels.
Studying skills may be different for every student. Some students may benefit from note-writing, some may benefit by highlighting or re-reading material or creating flash cards. My goal would be to find out what studying strategy works best for the individual to ensure a better chance of retaining the information. Since studying strategies vary, if the student learns best with one of the skills listed above, example note taking, I would help the student read through the material and master note-taking skills. When note-taking, you only need to write down main points and ideas and not re-write the whole paragraph/story/section, whatever it may be. Another example would be note cards; again we would find the main points or use flash cards for science, spelling, or any other subject if the student will benefit from note cards. We would then proceed to use these note cards to refer to in studying for an exam, test, or just to retain information being learned.
