I have working as a state licensed teacher in Massachusetts for the last 9 years. I have experience teaching both high school and middle school English and math. In the past, I have tutored elementary through college aged students in reading, math, and writing. I am committed to sharing my love and enthusiasm for learning while creating a fun, positive environment. I believe in developing a strong rapport with students and parents to ensure success in learning. I have worked with the Department of Education in creating the PARCC anchor texts, and have excellent strategies for finding success on state and federal standardized tests.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ADD/ADHD

I have a master's degree in education, and took all of my electives in special education. I have worked in an inclusive classroom as an educator for the last 9 years, working with an average of 10-15 students diagnosed with ADD/ADHD each year. I also worked as a paraprofessional in a classroom for a year supporting students with ADD/ADHD.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have a master's degree in education, and have worked in a 5-7 school teaching 6-7 grade for 7 years. I have nannied for families with elementary school children, supporting their academic needs. I have taken graduate coursework for instruction in writing for grades K-7.

Sewing

I have a bachelor's degree in theatre, and worked mostly in costuming. I have worked as a costumer (sewing) for an Opera Company. I have designed costumes for a number of local plays, and have also sewn drapes and curtains for friends and family.

Theatre

I have a bachelor's degree in technical theatre. I have also directed school plays and taught drama class. I have experience coaching for monologues, memorization and understanding texts. I have designed costumes and painted scenery for various plays. I worked for an Opera Company constructing costumes.
