My name is Li L. I am now teaching Mandarin Chinese at MIT.
For your information, I have received two Master’s degrees in Bilingual/ESL/Multicultural Education and Modern Chinese Literature respectively at University of Massachusetts at Amherst. I have had a variety of classroom experiences in both Mainland China and the United States from high school level to college level. In addition, I have done everything that is required towards the certificate in teaching Mandarin in MA except the Reading Subtest.
Due to location changes of my famlily, I taught at different institutions. I taught at UMass Amherst Modern Mandarin Chinese at all levels independently as lecture and discussion instructor respectively when I was a graduate student there. After graduation, I taught at North Field Mount Hermon School, SUNY Binghamton and Harvard University successively and have improved a lot in every aspect.
Besides teaching, I have a variety of English/Chinese translation and publication experiences from traditional Chinese medicine to archaeology to literature, including my latest translated book entitled Qingming Jie Or Qingming Festival from Chinese into English which will be published in September 2013. This can be the proof of my proficiency of both Chinese and English languages.
I have a firm belief that I can teach students of different ages Chinese at all levels.
