I am a School Psychologist who has experience working with students of all ages! My psychology background has taught me a lot about development as well as special needs. Specifically, I have experience working with students on the Autism Spectrum, students with attention deficits, and students with specific learning disabilities. I tend to work well with students who need more structure and support around study/homework time.
Additionally, I have excellent writing skills and a passion for teaching others (including adults) how to write. In the past, I have tutored both general elementary skills and more specific college-level writing. I enjoy editing work and would be happy to meet with you to discuss ideas about improving written organization and grammar.
I would love to work with some middle school students in a group setting this fall to help them develop stronger organizational, writing, and study skills. Ask me about my group discount! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am a School Psychologist, which requires me to have experience working with students who have various disabilities and disorders. I run groups for both social skills and behavior related to ADHD. Additionally, I perform assessments in order to determine whether children and adolescents have attention deficits that impact their ability to learn in the classroom. Part of my job is to help students learn despite their differences, so much of my work involves teaching children strategies to cope with disabilities and deficits such as ADHD.
I have my doctorate in school psychology and have taken courses in autism, learning disabilities, and interventions for special needs. Part of my job responsibility is to assess, diagnosis and treat students on the autism spectrum. I have experience working with students and parents of children with special needs, including autism.
I work as a School Psychologist and am certified in K-12. I have passed the basic MTEL requirements, have a MA/CAGS in School Psychology and have almost completed my Psy. D. coursework.
English was always my favorite subject in school - I love grammar, writing, and reading! I was a double major in college and LOVED my English Literature classes. I have experience with both American and British Literature as well as some others. I earned a perfect score on the Writing section of the GRE.
I have experience in this area that has allowed me to understand the skills that are necessary to be a strong public speaker. My experience includes presenting a paper at the National Association of School Psychology (NASP) Convention in 2010, a mini-skills at the NASP 2011 Convention, and a workshop at a conference at Boston College in the fall of 2011. Additionally, as a School Psychologist, I have to present at meetings at least twice a week, arrange parent presentations, and present to my colleagues in various situations. Finally, I have experience presenting through my doctoral classes.
I am a school psychologist in a public school system and spend most of my time at working evaluating students to determine whether they have special needs that required special education services. I have taken graduate level courses on learning disabilities, ADHD, and autism. I work with students who have special needs on a daily basis and am planning to teach a course on the subject at Endicott College in the fall.
As a school psychologist, I have had to apply study skills in a variety of areas. I often help teachers better understand the developing needs of students and explain executive functions to parents and educators. I have run executive functioning groups as well as an after school homework club that specifically focuses on organization and study skills. Finally, as a life-long learner who is finishing up her doctorate in psychology, I have had to use study skills in my own daily life.
Writing has always been my favorite area in school and beyond. As part of my full-time job, I have to write professional reports about students every day. In college, one of my majors was English Literature and involved writing many papers. I have tutored children, adolescents and adults in this area. Most of my clients have seen significant improvement in grammar, syntax, and overall writing style. As a college tutor, I helped students raise their grades from the D range to an A!
