Hello everyone!
My name is Bill R. I am an experienced English language instructor with an international background.
I am committed to the language education of students through strategic lesson planning and dedicated service. I have extensive overseas experience as a Teacher of English as a Foreign Language (TEFL). I have a proven aptitude for developing and presenting lesson plans using varied techniques: lectures, experiential projects, audio/visual and library resources, computers, and the Internet. I am skilled at designing instructional material, coordinating educational content, and using current technologies to assist in teaching. I possess outstanding people management skills with an ability to convey complex subject matter in an entertaining and educational fashion.
I love to use the communicative method with my students. The communicative method is based around the idea that students will speak only in the target language, English, and will focus on an equal balance of receptive skills, which include reading and listening, and of productive skills, which include speaking and writing. Some of the activities I like to utilize in the classroom include role playing and games to practice newly acquired language.
My core competencies include: second language acquisition, immersion, individual and group instruction, customized curriculum development, a multicultural awareness of various learning styles, conducting testing and performance evaluations, developing and adapting course content and materials, and classroom management and organization.
I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Russian Language and Literature from Dickinson College and spent over 5 years teaching ESL in Moscow, Russia. I moved back to the US 2 years ago, because I wanted to build on my already strong teaching experience back home. I currently reside outside of Boston and teach at a private language school downtown.
I am in possession of the CELTA certification, licensed by the University of Cambridge, to teach ESL to adults. I am also licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education to teach ESL in grades K-12.
I am fluent in Russian and have a working knowledge of Spanish.
I would be glad to answer any and all questions you may have, so please don't hesitate to contact me here, through the site and I will respond to all inquiries in a timely manner. Thank you so much and I look forward to hearing from you!
