Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ADD/ADHD

I am qualified to work with students with ADD/ADHD because I have worked with this population in a variety of grades and settings for many years. I have worked in Pre-K with special needs students all the way through grade 4 as a one-one aide with children with attention and hyperactivity issues.
My background is a master's degree in Elementary Education as well as many professional development points in special needs areas.

Dyslexia

I have many years teaching and tutoring children with learning disabilities, including dyslexia. I am trained in Orton Gillingham and Wilson Foundations. I also have done professional development in other reading and phonics methods. I have worked one-on-one and in small groups with guided reading, using Fountas and Pinnell and other methods.

Elementary (K-6th)

I work as an early intervention literacy tutor in the Natick Public Schools. I am trained in Wilson Fundations and Orton-Gillingham. I focus on building lessons that encourage confidence and make learning fun while being academically sound. I appreciate the differences in ALL children.

Phonics

I have worked with different phonics and phonemic awareness programs for many years. I have experience with Wilson FUNdations and trained in Orton Gillingham methods. I am now an early intervention literacy specialist.

Special Needs

I have worked with families who have children with special needs both as a tutor and advocate. I have worked in the classroom, one on one and in small groups. I have implemented IEPs and helped to write them. I appreciate each child for his/her abilities.
