Teaching is my life calling, and I truly love investing in each of my student's lives. I have worked in various classroom and tutoring settings with all ages, and have become adept at adapting each lesson to meet each student's individual needs.
I earned a Certificate in Tutoring at Chemeketa Community College while working in their tutoring department in 2001. After graduating with my Bachelors degree, I began working in Salem, Oregon as a bilingual Instructional Assistant in the Salem-Keizer Public school district. As an I.A. I tutored individual students and small groups in Reading, Writing, Math, ESOL and study skills. For one year I worked in a specialized classroom focusing on enabling struggling middle school students to succeed in reading.
In 2008 I graduated from Western Oregon University with a Masters in Teaching with a concentration in ESOL and bilingual instruction. I am currently licensed to teach in Oregon public schools, certified by the Teacher Standards and Practices Commission to teach elementary, middle and high school students, with authorizations to teach Language Arts, Reading, Writing, Spanish, and ESOL at elementary, middle and high school levels as well as social studies at the middle school level. I taught ESL reading, writing, grammar and social studies classes for one year at Walker Middle School, and I continued teaching the 6th grade dual core, home class focusing on reading, writing and social studies in a dual language setting. I just returned from a two year teaching and missions experience working in Oaxaca, Mexico with all age groups.
I have recently moved to the area to attend Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in South Hamilton, and I am available most afternoons and weekends. I am looking forward to meeting you and assisting your child in achieving academic success and gaining confidence and joy for life-long learning!
