Hello!
After many years working as a Special Needs Teaching Assistant at the high school level, I returned to Salem State University, Salem, MA for my MAT in Spanish. I enjoy working with all ages and I am presently Massachusetts certified to teach Spanish grades 5-12. Some of my travel experiences include Santiago and Valparaiso in Chile, Lima and Machu Picctu in Peru and Mexico City. Research for the Clinical Action Research Course I took at the Graduate level centered around the use of Spanish language/captioned film to create high interest and a starting point for the study of grammar and vocabulary. Language learning requires engagement in listening, speaking and reading, sometimes all at the same time, and film provides stimulation for all of these facets.
American history was my undergraduate major and supporting students in social studies classes was a part of my work in Special Education as was supporting pre algebra and other beginning math with students in a tutoring mode. I use the computer every day for a variety of purposes. The present academic demands upon students at all levels sometimes require additional effort and support and tutoring may offer benefits. Thank-you for your consideration.
