Since graduating from Tufts University magna cum laude with a double major in music and biomedical engineering systems, I've been working at Massachusetts General Hospital as a research assistant in the Hand and Upper Extremity Service in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. I will be starting medical school this August.

I have an extensive background in science, math and music, and I have experience providing one-on-one help in multiple subjects of all these areas. I absolutely love teaching and have always striven to make teaching interactive, even in larger group settings. That means I will not only teach you, but also push you to teach me in order to ensure your comprehension of a subject. Together, we can identify problem areas, experiment with new study techniques, discuss larger concepts and brainstorm their applications, and work through assignments to improve your grades and test scores.

Biology

I have a strong background in biology and have aced many courses from AP Biology in high school to upper level classes in college (such as physiology). In addition, I was a laboratory teaching assistant for a pre-medical biology class at Tufts. I also received a 12 on the biology section of the MCAT.

Composition (Music)

I have been composing all my life, but I have also had much formal training in composition, starting with AP music theory in high school. I then majored in music at Tufts University, and composition was a requirement for music theory, jazz theory, and jazz piano lessons.

Piano

I have been playing piano since I was seven-years-old. I was classically trained through high school, but I also enjoyed taking jazz piano lessons in college. I received an A for both semesters of jazz piano in college, which required performing for a panel of judges at the semester's culmination. I have composed my own songs as well. With an extensive background in music theory, I can also help you tackle this often confusing, but important component of learning how to play piano.

Sight Singing

I began sight singing in AP music theory in high school, and I used sight singing skills ever since to learn parts for the various music ensembles I've been in. Sight singing was a necessity to be a member of the Tufts University Chamber Singers select choir. In addition, I received an A- in an advanced music theory class that included an ear training lab, which also emphasized sight singing mastery.

MCAT

I took a Kaplan course in preparation for the MCAT and scored in the 90th percentile. Kaplan courses can be very helpful especially in terms of the sheer amount of practice materials they provide, but they are not tailored to an individual student's needs.
