Hello!
My name is Andrew, you can call me Andy or Drew or Andrew.
I'm a recent graduate of Salem State University with my Bachelors in Art Education major and graduated cum laude with most semesters ending with me on the Dean's List. I've been involved in art all of my life, and started my education in high school where I took AP classes and got the top-most score for my AP Design portfolio in my class after having only been in the class for a few weeks. I've worked in digital, sculpture (including ceramics, glass blowing, and welding), painting (mostly non-representational), drawing, and photography. I was born with a passion for creating as well as a passion for teaching. I hold a firm belief that the tutor learns just as much from the student as the student learns from the tutor, and that is what I think a great reward is.
I'm patient and understand that not everyone learns the same way. I like to incorporate other subjects in with art and teach in an interdisciplinary way. History, science, math, and English all have something to do with art and visa versa.
I've taught a couple of classes, but most of my work has been in Residence Life, which I partially consider a teaching position. In residence life I've developed programs (much like simplified lesson plans) regularly for residents that often times were educational based.
I believe in teaching what you have a passion to learn about. I've known my passion since I could hold a 2b pencil and carried that passion all the way through college. Now is my chance to teach the way I'd like to outside of restricting institutions that hinder creativity.
Hope to hear from you soon and I'm open to any and all questions!
