I attended the University of Genova, Italy, and received a BA in Foreign Languages (English and Swedish) in 2010. After graduating I studied teaching methods for Italian as a second language, and I did my teacher training between 2010 and 2011 in classes of Italian as a second language, for beginner adult students in Pisa, Italy. I live in the Boston area since 2011.
I obtained the DITALS II certificate in 2012 (certificate issued by Università per Stranieri di Siena) – I am a certified teacher of Italian as a second language.
I have been teaching in private schools/organizations - mainly adults, corporate classes, private tutoring, and in elementary public schools to K to 2nd and 3rd to 5th graders since 2010.
My teaching/tutoring method is based on several theories and it is oriented to the student's needs. We discuss the goals in the beginning, in order to give suitable tutoring and keep the student motivated and interested. In general I use a communicative approach, with a notional-functional method.
It is important for the students to develop their own cognitive ability, in order to "learn how to learn". It will be useful for their future in studying more Italian or other foreign languages.
The cultural aspect is taken into great consideration, as it is bonded to the language.
Studying/learning with a good sense of humor is the key!
