Hello! I am a recently unemployed Latin and English high school teacher during the year. I left my job because I felt the school I was working for was not concerned enough with helping our students achieve. So, now I want to tutor your child or children!
I have taught in a private high school for three years. During that time, I developed and taught courses for Latin - all four years - freshmen and sophomore English literature, public speaking, and creative writing. Thus I am well-qualified to tutor in those areas, and also in the areas of reading and grammar. I can also help students with essays, be it brainstorming, research methods, or writing.
I have a BA in philosophy and Classical languages and a MA in political philosophy, focusing on the American Revolution and ancient philosophy. I am enthusiastic about history and the other humanities, and I try to integrate all subjects with my students. If need be, I can tutor your student in ancient history or ancient civilization and also American history.
I enjoy tutoring because I can interact with my student at a closer level than in a classroom. In a classroom, I have to teach to 20 students, but with tutoring I can focus on developing a curriculum that fits your child and his or her learning style.
