I graduated from Stanford's Graduate School of Education in 2012 and have an extensive background in tutoring and working with children, adolescents, and adults. I did my undergraduate work at Vassar College and graduated with honors in 2010.
From 2010 - 2011, I tutored several students (ages 5- college) in all subjects.
Since 2013, in addition to K-12 Tutoring, I have been working with college students and adult learners as well.
Specialties include: Personal Statements, Academic Essays, Application Essays, Business Writing, Proofreading, Grammar, Vocabulary, Reading Comprehension, History, Government, and Algebra I.
Significant experience tutoring students with special needs including: ADD/ADHD, Processing difficulties, Autism, and Dyslexia.
I have also worked at Kumon Learning Centers particularly with students that were behind for their grade level. Here, I tutored in Math, Reading, Vocabulary, Writing and Study Skills.
Since I want to make sure that each of my students gets significant attention, I enjoy working with people one-on-one or in small group settings.
I have really enjoyed working with elementary students for the past few years and look forward to continuing! I worked at the KUMON Learning Center in Sugar Land, TX tutoring students one-on-one in both math and reading while developing their skills and confidence. It was a great feeling to watch these students make great strides in just a matter of weeks. During my time in college, I tutored second graders at local elementary schools for 5 semesters. I truly enjoy working with students at any level, and I am willing to tutor both one-on-one or in small group settings. If you are looking for an experienced, patient, committed tutor who makes learning fun and exciting for students, I look forward to hearing from you!
I have had much experience working with ESL/ESOL students of all ages and of various backgrounds. I understand the patience and skill it takes, and I thoroughly enjoy this work. As a speaker of three languages myself, I have an understanding and appreciation for the nuances and complexities that each distinct language provides both its native and non-native speakers. Furthermore, having spent time abroad, speaking a language that is not my own, I myself have been in the same situation as an ESL/ESOL student, and can relate on a personal level.
I have tutored Prealgebra extensively and understand what it takes to make your student successful in the subject. I have worked closely with students to make math concepts accessible instead of scary and I would welcome the opportunity to work with your student.
As a recent college graduate, study skills have become second nature to me. From my personal experience, as well as my experience working with various students at all grade levels, I have learned what study habits work for different kinds of students and I look forwarding to sharing my own knowledge and experience with my students.
I have extensive experience tutoring writing to students at all levels. In college, I worked as a Writing Tutor for college students and helped improve sentence structure and argument construction. I have also worked with K-12 students on academic and personal essays. Finally, I have helped student write excellent essays for college applications.
