Dear student,

my name is Dana. I am a Native of Germany. I graduated with honors from the University of Kentucky. I hold a Bachelors degree in Music and a Bachelors degree in Arts Administration. I recently received a Masters of Music from a music conservatory in the Boston area. I have taught voice, German and elementary Piano in one-on-one sessions as well as group settings. I have taught and tutored for 10 years and love to help. I tailor my tutoring sessions to the needs of the students by exploring their learning styles and then use them effectively.

I have passed the TOEFL test prior to my own entrance into an American university.

I am well educated in the field of music history. I have a general overview as well as detailed knowledge on specific subjects as this field directly relates to my work as a classical/opera singer. I can help you understand and combine concepts.

Piano

I teach elementary Piano, primarily to students aged 5-10 years old but I also to beginning adults. I teach piano playing technique, posture and interpretation as well as basic music theory necessary to playing the piano.

Voice (Music)

I started teaching voice as an undergraduate in my vocal pedagogy class in 1999. Since then I have instructed students aged 6-50 in individual and group classes. I believe that a basic vocal foundation is essential for all styles that are sung and that singing should be fun and that learning how is a progress. I concentrate in voice lessons on breath support, resonance, posture, picking songs, discussing practice techniques and individual goals.

I have tutored English as a Second Language in Boston for 5 years. I'm happy to teach children as well as adults. One of my students last year was a young adult student from Korea who did not speak any English and struggled with pronunciation. After 6 months of regular study, this student was able to form full sentences, hold a lengthy conversation and pose questions. I love to help students at any level who want to improve their English.
