I am a post-graduate (English) and a trained teacher from India. My degrees have been evaluated by the Educational Credential Evaluators, Inc. in U.S.A as equivalent to the U.S. degrees of Bachelor of Arts in Foreign Language (English) and Bachelor of Science in Education. I have been given a license to teach English and English As A Second Language to grade 6 through grade 12 by the state of Wisconsin and ESL to K - 12 by the state of Iowa. I have certification to teach in Massachusetts from K through 12. Currently I am working as a tutor for Worcester Public Schools.
True education, worthwhile, holistic education is not possible unless and until every part of the education process is in perfect harmony. Each cog, every wheel has a role to play in this orchestrated exercise if the end product is to be a well-rounded personality. Most institutions look at education as product oriented where as, to be productive it has to be process oriented. I have had the honor to work in such institutions that value the complete process instead of merely churning out a product. I have not only worked with high school children, but also with Kindergarteners. I worked with 6th - 11th grade students for 3 years in Moti Ram School, Chandigarh, India. My main subjects were English and Social Studies for higher classes. I worked as a Kindergarten teacher for two years in Delhi Public School, Chandigarh, India. This school is of international renown. Delhi Public School has branches in LA, Washington and New York in the U.S. I worked as an ESL teacher for grades 6 - 12 for West Sioux Community School District, Iowa from August 2008 through June 2009. Then I moved to Massuchusetts as I got married. I worked on getting ESL Certification and now hold a Preliminary license. At present, I am working as an ESL Tutor for Worcester Public Schools.
I am very fond of children and ever since I can remember, I have wanted to be a teacher. I believe that as a teacher, it is my duty to help in the development of fine and gross motor skills of the children; enhancement of their imaginative and cognitive abilities. It is commonly said, “Practice makes a man perfect”. Quite true; any innovative idea unless not experimented can never be in form. I believe in undertaking various projects relating to the children’s course topic and using various teaching aids to enhance their retention power as the children learn by experimentation and co-relation.
I have a strong passion to educate young minds and help them into well-rounded, responsible and successful individuals. Throughout the course of my career, I have had wonderful opportunities to teach diverse groups of students including those with learning disabilities, those who performed at grade level and those who were gifted/exceptional. My greatest strengths include inspiring and motivating students.
To build castles in the air is not my motto. I am always prepared mentally, psychologically, intellectually, and physically to encounter even the unprecedented events with a broader prospective.
