Experienced & Certified Math Teacher (Grades 5-12)

As a parent of 4 children ages 7 - 17, I enjoy working with students of all ages in Math, SAT/ACT test prep, accounting, and computer science/applications. I am an experienced and certified math teacher for grades 5-12, and recently left the full-time classroom to provide one-on-one instruction to local students. I am hired by the local school system, and also hired privately. My specific methods vary according to the subject being taught and the learning style and needs of the student. We usually meet at a local library or can arrange for a more convenient location...I am flexible :)

Algebra 1

I am very knowledgeable about this subject as I have taught Algebra 1 at the high school level for 5 years. I have also spent many years tutoring middle and high school students in Algebra 1 and can quickly identify gaps in knowledge. I know the skills needed for success not only in Algebra 1 but in subsequent Math courses they will be required to take.

Algebra 2

Certification exam score: 100%
I have expert knowledge of this subject matter as I have taught at the high school level and tutored many students in Algebra over the years. Algebra 2 happens to be my favorite subject! I am familiar with the stumbling blocks with this subject that students usually experience and can quickly identify weaknesses in skills needed for success.

SAT Math

I have excellent qualifications for tutoring SAT Math. I have spent several years teaching high school Math and tutoring students in Math at the middle school, high school, and college level. I have also tutored many students privately to prepare them for the SAT.

ACT Math

I have excellent qualifications for tutoring ACT Math. I have spent several years teaching high school Math and tutoring students in Math at the middle school, high school, and college level. I have also tutored many students privately to prepare them for the ACT.

I spent 12 successful years in software engineering and left the corporate world to teach at the high school level to better balance needs of my family. Although I taught high school Math, my professional training was in software development which involved computer programming. I programmed embedded systems for approximately 5 years using the 'C' language. I also have a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science & Psychology.

Computer Programming

I spent 12 successful years in software engineering and left the corporate world to teach at the high school level to better balance needs of my family. Although I taught high school Math, my professional training was in software development which involved computer programming, primarily using the 'C' and Fortran languages, as well as HTML, Javascript, and PERL.
