I am a Science Teacher with 15 years of classroom experience. Prior to teaching, I was a research assistant conducting experiments including tissue culture and radioisotope studies. My education includes a B.S. in Zoology from Michigan State, a M.S. in Oceanography from the University of Rhode Island and a teaching certificate through Providence College.
I am well traveled and an enthusiastic lifelong learner. This past summer I traveled to Iceland and learned about its unique geology as well as to Peru to study its birds and history. In 2010, I joined a Norwegian trekking group and hiked through two Norwegian National Parks. In 2009, I worked as a summer extern writing curriculum for school visits for the SONAR division of the Naval Underwater Warfare Center (NUWC). In 2008, I was awarded an expedition scholarship to join a marine research cruise in the Gulf of Alaska. I am a former Peace Corps Volunteer and I have completed an Outward Bound survival course.
I specialize in explaining confusing concepts and showing students how they can remember them. I reduce students' anxiety with my enthusiasm, patience and positive attitude. I love teaching Science and Math and it shows.
