"Impression without expression equals depression," wrote the great animator Walt Stanchfield.
But how do we make sure that our fellow citizens UNDERSTAND our communications?
I offer students of all ages an opportunity to articulate and express themselves authentically and precisely using a variety of media and languages: drawing, screenwriting, animation, essay-writing, and hybrids thereof.
I will teach you my own divergent thinking strategies - I help you generate the greatest number of ideas in the shortest amount of time. I draw from my extensive experience with many forms of media to help you find the best way to use your voice and generate stunning images that make you feel great about yourself.
Like a smooth glass marble in your pocket that gives you security and beauty as you hold it in your fingers...
I enjoy nurturing people and helping individuals find his/her own voice - but one that also will communicate to the greater universe. I have held teaching appointments at museums and universities (most recently Harvard, Wellesley, School of the Art Institute of Chicago) and have also privately mentored writers, filmmakers, graduate students, international students, business professionals, aspiring artists...
I currently work with City Arts and Providence After School Alliance; I trained extensively with Rhode Island Public Quality Assessment, an organization dedicated to developing safe and inspiring after-school programs.
My own work - visual art and films - have exhibited internationally in museums, galleries, and festivals for the last two decades. I've been a Fulbright Scholar and have been the recipient of many grants, arts residencies, and art commissions.
I look forward to working with you!
