Having graduated college with three majors and with a 3.9 GPA, I know what it takes to be self-disciplined and aim for success no matter what challenges come your way!
Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Derek. I graduated from Bridgewater State University with a bachelors in Social Work, Psychology (Child Psyc. Concentration), and Elementary Education. I have my Massachusetts initial teaching license for grades 1st - 6th. Although elementary grades are the ones that I am most familiar with, I am still quite capable to help students in middle school or high school as well with the subjects that might be presenting a challenge to them.
I have worked with many kids in the past, both in and outside of school. With my formal education background, I know that just because a student struggles with a certain subject or specific area in a subject does not mean that he or she can't have success with a little hard work. On the same note, I also believe that just because a student is struggling in an area in school doesn't mean that he or she isn't trying. Every student (child or adult) has unique learning styles and may learn better through different studying or teaching methods. Perhaps a child who is struggling in a certain area just needs someone who is patient and willing to show them the same information but in a different light.
No matter what struggles your child has had either presently or in the past regarding a certain subject, success is still very much within range and I can help your child reach his or her full potential.
