I’m aware that sometimes learning a new program or subject for the first time can be a bit intimidating or frustrating to learn. But once you get your hands dirty and learn the essentials of the tools and interface a lot can be accomplished. My goal is to help people learn, promote creativity and become successful in creating their vision.

Hello my name is Matthew, and I have been studying and creating digital artwork for over 5 years. I have a degree in Multimedia and a BA in Computer Animation from Full Sail University. Currently I am studying graphic design at SMFA/Tufts. On a daily basis I use Adobe Creative Suites programs like Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign and After Effects. I also do CGI for game art and video production as well as digital composting including motion graphics.
3D modeling is a specialty of mine and I am able to teach the following applications: Autodesk Maya, 3D Studio Max, Mudbox and Pixologic’s ZBrush. Creating digital artwork is something I've always been passionate about and helping others in my passion just makes it even better. I'm looking to help students or anyone looking to learn a new application to succeed in creating digital artwork.

Important Information for potential students:

• I am only available to tutor mostly around the Boston area and in a public place (Few examples: Cafe, public library, computer labs, mall cafeteria). If location is not listed or unsure about your location just send me an email.

•Since I only teach subjects for computer arts, students should have access to some kind of computer or laptop (PC or MAC) and a sketch pad & pencil it's still art.

•If you don't own the application you are looking to learn, no worries. Most applications come with a 30 day free trail you can download off their website.

If you have any questions feel free to send me an email and I'll will get back to you as soon as I can.

Adobe Photoshop, Art Theory , Graphic Design, Video Production
Computer:
Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, Graphic Design, Maya, Video Production

Adobe Illustrator

In my studies for my Multimedia degree I was taught Adobe Illustrator to create vector graphics for stationary elements for branding and illustration. I also utilize my skills for motion graphics production to be used in Adobe After Effects. I have also been exposed to the study of typography and the proper use of the Character and Paragraph tools. Most of my illustrations are freehand and scanned in which enables me to use the Live Trace/Image Trace in CS6 feature to convert into vector paths.

Adobe Photoshop

I have been using Photoshop for over 6 years. I use Adobe Photoshop for all my digital art. I have spent countless hours studying photo editing and manipulation to design pixel based imagery. I use a wacom table to create digital matte painting and character concept sketches. I am able to use the Brush panel to create my own custom brushes to get results. I know how important using masks is for a non-destructive workflow as well as adjustment layers to color correct.

Maya

I attended college in 2007 at ITT Technical Institute to study Multi-Media. In 2009 I graduated with an Associate In Applied Science Degree. After I attended Full Sail University's Computer Animation Program and received a Bachelors of Science - Computer Animations Degree. My time in college I would help with other students having trouble with there modeling projects or learning Maya. My first Two years of college I learned how to modeling using 3D Studio Max. Once I enter Full Sail I had to learn Maya and ZBrush which was an easy transition. To this day I continue honing my skills modeling in Maya adding to my portfolio.

Video Production

At the end of 2012 I received a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Animation from Full Sail University. Over the course of my studies, I utilized applications such as Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premiere and The Foundry NukeX. I have learned to edit film, rotoscope and composite 3D models for VFX. I have been exposed to all disciplinary areas of computer animation, such as story boarding, concept art, to scene finishing, compositing and color correcting.
