Lesley University, School of Education (MEd)
I am excited to say that I have been teaching in schools for a decade now! I began my career as a music teacher for K to 8 at St. Augustine's School in Andover, MA. I designed and implemented creative music courses for each grade. I joined the Jesuit Volunteer Corps after college and was placed as an Assistant Director at the Notre Dame Montessori School in Dorchester. Over the years I have worked at this school as a teacher and a grant writer. After graduating from Lesley with my Masters in Education, I worked as a Pre-Kindergarten Teacher at Park Street Kids in Boston.
I have three wonderful children with my husband. After I began having children, I continued to work at Park Street as an Assistant Teacher. When the commute became a little tough with all the little ones at home in Reading, I worked for three years as a Kindergarten Teacher at Abundant Life Christian School in Wilmington. I am currently taking time off to care for my own children, and am taking two classes at Lesley to finish up my state licensure for early education. In music I have training in piano, voice and theater. The creative arts are my passion and I thoroughly enjoy using the arts to help students learn in all subjects! I have only met with Aimee a couple of times and spoke many times on the phone about my son. He is a junior in high school which is an age group whose attention is not easily captured! I saw enthusiasm in the subject she was teaching and when the session was over my 16 year old son LIKED IT! She helped him with literature and made him understand in a brief lesson. I am very pleased and look forward to many more sessions
Thanks so much, Susan. I greatly appreciate your feedback! Your son is a pleasure to work with.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
