I am one of those rare individuals who has excellent Mathematics skills as well as a gift of inspirational writing. As early as first grade, my advanced mathematics skills were recognized. By third grade, I was completing timed Mathematics tests even before the teacher completed the answer sheet. Throughout elementary school, I consistently won Mathematics awards and in Junior High, I served as a member of my school's Math Team. In high school, I was on the advanced Mathematics tract and I was a member of the National Honor Society. I graduated high school with a GPA of 3.9.
Not surprisingly, I majored in Mathematics and earned a Bachelor's in Mathematics at a prestigious institution, the University of Virginia where I consistently made the Dean's list. Based on my Mathematics background and related programming courses in college, I was hired as a Software Engineer and had a thriving career for over 15 years at a major software development company. I primarily designed and wrote software in the C programming language, and later, I went into management. I won the Employee of the Month award twice, consistently received bonuses for project achievements, and the customers were extremely pleased with the quality of our delivered products.
Ok, so that was then, and this is now. While I still have a love for numbers, math problems, and Excel spreadsheets, I also have a deep and burning desire to write. I enjoy teaching my toddler how to read and write. I have written lots of touching poetry since childhood. Someday, I hope to write a book.
I enjoy working with children and teaching children of all ages, but also would feel great in making a difference in an adult's life. I am a patient, supportive tutor who will never give up on you. I will work with you until you "get it". I am detail-oriented and goal-oriented. I look forward to helping you reach your goals and making a difference.
