As a dually mass licensed educator, during the school year, I continue to serve as a high school Accounting, Web Design, Software Applications teacher and Educational Technology Support for teachers. I'm happy to fit in summer tutoring for students and/or teacher of all ages who need course credit or enrichment in Web Design, Computer Applications, Public Speaking, Introduction to Game Design, Accounting and Web 2.0 tools for teachers. It is your choice as I prepare all content for onsite as well as online learning. My own educational background includes a bachelor's degree in Business Education from Salem State, along with two graduate degrees; a Master's in Education: Curriculum and Instructional Technology Degree from Framingham State College and in 2008, a Graduate Certificate in Instructional Design from UMass Boston.

Microsoft Excel

I began using a spreadsheet when it was invented and called Visicalc. Since then, I've used Excel within my Accounting jobs, teaching night classes and currently teaching high school and graduate classes in Office Applications.

General Computer

Teaching a Freshman seminar course for the past 14 years at both the high school and college level has taught me that there are many people of all ages who are in need of general computer skills. Computers are a vital part of everyone's life.

Computer skills go beyond gaming and can help you in organizing your work and/or school professional life. I would love to work with either middle school, teens and/or adults.

Microsoft Word

Microsoft Word is one of the most popular word processing software programs used in schools and businesses today. Learning to work with the ribbon, create properly formatted papers for school, newsletters, resumes, print business cards, address labels and so much more. It all starts with basic understanding of three levels of formatting in Word; character, paragraph and page level formatting. Whatever your need, I will help you to make professional looking documents.

Microsoft PowerPoint

PowerPoint continues to be a mainstay of presentation tools. Organizing information into palatable chunks while providing relevant media (pictures, videos, animation, etc.) makes a fabulous presentation. Learn the secrets of planning and using all the tools included in PowerPoint to create fabulous presentations. The latest version that I am teaching to my students at the high school level is 2010.

Prealgebra

Working in the field of Accounting before teaching high school and graduate school, I've used my math skills throughout adult life. All three of my children have also benefited from this as I have tutored my children in math. My youngest child is entering high school. I would be happy to help your child succeed as well.

Writing

Writing is one of those life skills that no one can do without. It is a process that evolves as you are introduced to good form through a variety of experiences. These experiences may include, school, having a tutor, reading, and perhaps just listening to well organized speakers. Adobe Photoshop

One of my favorite units to teach from ages 4-110 is Photoshop. Students as well as teachers can benefit from learning how to recolor images, adjust photos, select and remove/replace parts of a photos, rotate/resize images, replace colors, erase parts of a photo, work with layers and so much more.

Guitar

I've had a love for music ever since I can remember. My favorite movie growing up was The Wizard of Oz. At age 10, I took formal guitar lessons for several years and played with an adult music group from age 12-18 before beginning on my own at college and beyond when I had my own children. I took several courses in music theory while in college and my appreciation for perfection grew.

Web Design

I am responsible for setting up portal pages and library tutorials for our school web site as well as maintaining my own teacher site using Dreamweaver 5.5. I find using Dreamweaver to organize and upload is quick and efficient way maintain any web site. I have been teaching Web Design at the high school for about 6 years, we cover basic html and then use Dreamweaver to publish a variety of sites to the web.

Public Speaking

Within the freshmen technology seminar course that I began teaching 15 years ago at the high school, public speaking is a required unit. I took a graduate level course at Salem State entitled "Creating Confident Speakers" sometime after I finished a masters in education in 2001. Since that time, I've added and continue to add more to that unit.

Dreamweaver

I began teaching Web Design at the high school about 6 years ago. Dreamweaver is a great and powerful web editing program that once mastered, makes creating and maintaining websites an organized and efficient process. The program allows you to work in the code view or the design view (you can also look at both on split screen). It is what is called a "WISIWYG" or What you see is what you get.
